Airports are generally subdivided into multiple areas designed to help passengers onboard and deplane properly while ensuring that aircraft are handled safely.

Landside
The area within the airport's boundaries accessible to the general public is called landside. It includes services like airline counters, shops, restaurants and other services.

Airside
Contrasting the landside area, the airside of an airport is the zone with tightly managed and limited access, only for the traveling passengers and staff members.

Off-Airport
The area outside the airport but within a reasonable driving distance that usually hosts support airport services such as rental car centers, hotels, parking lots

Departures
Departures is the area of the airport that deals with or assists the passengers leaving.

In-flight
In-flight refers to all the procedures, services, assistance, and facilities provided within the duration of a flight. Everything that is offered to the passengers while they are on the flight can be considered “in-flight”.

Arrivals
Arrivals is the area that deals with the arriving passengers. As the term states, the incoming passengers are assisted in the arrival area.

Parking
Airport parking are area, space, garage or other facility upon or in which vehicles are parked within the boundaries or within 5 miles of the boundaries of a regional airport facility.

Concourse
The concourse is the big empty area in front of the buildings. It is the area within the terminal where passengers buy tickets, go through security and transfer their luggage.

Ramp
A ramp is a dedicated space at an airport that acts as a parking pad for an aircraft. The ramp is generally home to pre-flight activities.

Cargo
Air cargo is another term for air freight. It is the carriage or the transportation of goods through an air carrier.

Runway & Taxiway
An aircraft does not directly take off after being prepped. It takes a rectangular field-like way to start its take-off.

Control Tower
The control tower is a building at the airport that provides all the necessary instructions. Everything that is important to inform the crew from the time of take-off to ensuring the clear sky is delivered from the building.
